I picked him up from a breeder in Toowoombah on Wednesday 25th February 09 .. he's approx 2 weeks and just BEAUTIFUL !! .. I love him to bits !

This photo was taken just after the big trip yesterday (2 hrs up and 2 hrs back) and just before he had something to eat ..

These 3 babies actually hatched earlier than they should have due to the heat we've been having .. but they are all very healthy, warm and moving alot !

New pictures of Clutch #3

WOW ! .. these bub's sure are growing ! .. I can't believe how quickly they've gone from tiny little bubba's to fully feathered and flying little birds .. they are so cute ..

They are starting to eat now - so they should be ready in 2 weeks to go to their new homes .. I sure am going to miss these little guys :( ..

Fully feathered and FLYING !

The babies are doing wonderfully !

They are all now fully feathered (apart from a few just missing under their beaks) .. but they've mastered the art of FLYING ! .. soon as you open the door - they are gone .. lol .. it's so funny, yet so dangerous ! .. several times they have hit the window or the glass sliding door .. ouch !

They hit the floor, give a yell and a shake and start twittering ... Koko the cat sits next to them alot now, the other day they thought he was me and that they were going to get fed ! .. lol .. so so cute - will have to put the video up ..

I noticed 1 of them actually drinking today ! .. yayyyy that's a very BIG achievement ! .. they are also picking at their pea's and corn and nibbling away at their seed blocks and millet .. they are still a few weeks off eating on their own, and I am still giving them 4 hourly feeds - 8am, 12 midday, 4pm and 8pm .....

4 weeks old - where has the time gone ..

My precious babies turned 4 wks old this week .. I can't believe how quickly (yet tiring ... lol ...) the past 2 weeks has been .. but it's been worth every bit of it !

Bub #1 is now flying everywhere - clever little bugger he/she is .. actually flew from the cage around the corner and onto the curtains in the lounge room today .. I was totally freaking out, but it's good for them to learn to fly ..

Wow ! look what we can do now ....

Starting to play with peas and corn - this is the 1st step in weaning them .. they think it's all fun and games for a while ...



Bub #1 - has learnt how to climb up the side of the cage and sit on the seed block .. and can now also FLY across the kitchen at feed time !

All 4 babies are doing extremely well - apart from the heat that is so I've moved them to inside with the air conditioning ..

I sit them in their cage with a towel over the top .. the heat here for the past week has been unbearable and it's just too hot for them .. I have had them inside for almost a week now - Bub #4 still had his eyes closed when I brought them in .. but boy oh boy he's very bright eyed and bushy tailed now ! ..

He chases the spoon all over the place to get fed .. lol .. he's such a little cutie !

Wow ! .. I can't believe how quickly our bubba's are growing .. they just love being inside and are so alert now ..

Babies are doing very well

The babies are growing so quickly - Bub #2 is already wanting to be picked up .. lol .. it's so cute .. they are walking all over the nest box and boy oh boy do they love their food !

We are hand feeding them now because Bub #4 is so tiny he wasn't getting enough from mum dad so over the past few days - I've been taking them from the nest during the day and hand feeding all 4 ..

Bub #4 is doing really well now - still very tiny - but god can the little bugger eat .. he stands up really tall and beg's like there's no tomorrow ..

Bub's 1,2 and 3 are fed every 4 hours - Bub #4 get's fed every 2-3 hours if required .. This morning they were fed 7am so next feed should 11am - maybe a bit earlier for Bub #4 ..

I have a bird cage that has a big door on it - so the babies are in that, inside a nest box lined with paper towel which get's changed every couple of hours if needed .. I leave them on the back verandah during the day ..

last night was their 1st night out of the nest box away from mum and dad so we put them in the computer room - on our filing cabinet .. I got up at 11.30pm and fed them ..

Bub #3 - 1 week old

# 5 and #6 don't make it ...

I am sad this afternoon as egg #5 and #6 didn't make it .. #5 started hatching way to early and I guess mum and dad were eager to get him out - he lived for approx 1/2 an hour .. #6 - the egg has got black patches all over it .. which is exactly what happend to the last egg in the last clutch ..

We moved the 2 remaining egg's from Charlie and Wally on advice from another bird breeder - as 4 was enough for them to handle .. and put them in with another breeding couple .. but sadly they didn't make it ..

Bub #1 and #2 eyes are starting to open

Phew ! .. what a HOT day in Brisbane today .. I went down to check the bubba's to find them puffing .. so I took the lid of the box for a while to let some cool air in and they loved it !

I also noticed that Bub #1 and #2's eyes are starting to open - so by next week they should all be open and checking out the BIG WORLD !
